James Paul - St. Michael West Central

About James

James Paul is a respected agricultural leader, former parliamentarian, and advocate for food security and sustainable development. He has served as Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Agricultural Society (BAS), where he became a strong national voice on protecting agricultural lands, strengthening local food production, and supporting farmers through practical, workable policy.

James has consistently championed the need for resilience in agriculture, fair treatment for farmers, and strategic planning to ensure Barbados can feed itself in an uncertain global environment. His work has focused on bridging policy and practice—bringing the concerns of rural and agricultural communities directly into national conversations.

James remains deeply committed to St. Michael West Central. Grounded, experienced, and solutions-focused, he brings leadership and a clear understanding of how agriculture, food security, and economic stability are inseparably linked to national progress.
